Good Morning Gosadd,Today the 67th Edition of the Cannes Film Festival starts.
It will open officially this evening at 8pm with the screening of Grace of Monaco with Nicole Kidman (who was also in the Jury last year with Spielberg).
This year I will follow the Festival with a great attention because of:
1: Nicolas Winding Refn is in the Jury for the Official Selection. This means he won't judge Ryan's movie and this is a good thing as he can't be accused of favoring Lost River. We all know Nicolas is a man of integrity but still rumors are everywhere. So, Good Luck Mr Refn.
2: on 20th May Ryan will premiere Lost River. The movie is in "Un Certain Regard" Selection and could win the Camera D'Or. Just in case, the Award Ceremony will take place Friday 23rd May.
The movie will be screened at the Debussy Theatre and as I've already told you in my previous post (where you can also read Ryan's Official Statement) there will be 2 screenings:
- at 2 pm for the press;
- at 10 pm the official premiere.
The red carpet usually opens half a hour before the screening so at 9.30 pm.
By the way.. Who will walk on the Red Carpet?? Yesterday a tweet announced the presence of Ryan with Eva, Christina and Saoirse. Last week a fansite has confirmed Matt too:
You can also follow the main events of the Festival from your home (and I hope Lost River premiere will be broadcasted). This is what you can read on the Official page of the Festival:
This year TV Festival de Cannes, co-produced by CANAL+, Orange and the Festival de Cannes, will cover the red carpet, the press conferences, the photo calls and interviews for films in Competition, as well as a number of important other events.
TV Festival de Cannes will be broadcast in French and English throughout the Palais complex and in most hotels along the Croisette. It will also be available on "Web TV":
- On YouTube (Canal+ / English);
- On DailyMotion (Orange / French).
On the Official Page you can also connect to the Lost River Section where you can watch photos, videos and other stuff and download the official press kit (in French) that - I remind you - was yet available on my Gallery - Press Kit Album. On the same gallery you can also watch all the images from the set and the official stills released so far.
We have now to be little more patient for the Trailer and the Official Poster.
Just a little curiosity that could possibly be a good omen: Drive was screened in Cannes on 20 May 2011. That time the movie was in the Official Competition for the Palme d'Or (won by NWR).
Ryan is coming back exactly after 3 years!
Now I want to say a big THANK YOU for the support here and on my others Socials.
